While prescribing, providers are warned by the DUR Checking within Allscripts to help ensure that patients are not prescribed medications that may harm them. Prescribers can opt to ignore these warnings. Many times these warnings are overly-cautious, but there are times that the warnings are applicable. When the prescriber ignores these warnings, it creates additional work for the pharmacist, and increases the potential that the patient could be harmed.
The DUR Warning Log allows you to monitor those who are ignoring the warnings, providing the medication, prescription details, provider and the reason for ignoring the warning.
